Education @ Amathole Museum
The Education section, an integral part of the museum, and it straddles between the mammal, history and anthropology sections. With artefacts from these sections, it educates the public. Scholars, day-to-day visitors, tourists (local and international) and students from colleges and universities are given a low down on these and everything else. The educators also visit schools around Qonce for lessons on vertebrates and invertebrates to offer enrichment lessons. These lessons, approved by the Department of Basic Education, have received tremendous praise and approval from the schools.
From time to time, we receive invitations from smaller museums to assist in outreach activities. We have been to KwaMaqoma, Komani and Mt Ayliff to help in reaching out to schools in these areas. We have exhibited artefacts and also conducted career guidance workshops for learners.
